Your Thinking About the Amount of Time You Have

Do you ever catch yourself slacking off and pushing everything off until tomorrow and thinking “well one day won’t make a difference”?

Here’s the thing: You’re right.

You will not have taken a step towards bridging the gap between where you are now, and where you want to be.

I’ve heard clients use the phrase “one day won’t make a difference” and try to pin it as self-care, but long-term it’s self-sabotage.

Every Day Makes A Difference

Every day impacts your trajectory and either takes you closer to what you want or it doesn’t. And that doesn’t mean that you need to hustle and exhaust yourself non-stop. Taking care of yourself with the right habits is critical to your long-term success, which includes taking down time and sometimes deciding to push things off. In fact the days with downtime matter just as much as the days that you are taking massive action because they will make a difference to your energy, your attitude, and your stamina.

Our Thoughts Matters

But saying “one day won’t make a difference” is taking a cavalier approach to time and taking it for granted. And this matters because our thoughts and feelings about time are critical, as we are more likely to take good care of the things that we care about. Your thoughts and feelings about time are going to impact the decisions you make every day. People who are cavalier about time, or who fear a lack of it are much more likely to procrastinate and then later have to deal with stress about how they are going to use it.

So whether you believe “one day will make a difference” or “one day won’t make a difference” you will prove yourself right, but your decisions are much more likely to align with the results you want to create when you believe that one day will always make a difference.
