Most people who are trying to fix not having enough time are focusing on the wrong things and they keep playing catch up, disappointing themselves, and giving up.
Theresa spent years trying to write consistently. But kid stuff, job stuff, Covid, cooking, house stuff, and sometimes, just procrastination or exhaustion made it impossible to write as much or as often as she wanted to.
She tried different systems, different schedules, and gave herself tough deadlines but it would often end with her beating herself up because another week had gone by and she wasn’t as far along in her writing as she wanted to be. It felt impossible, but also like it should be possible if she could just try harder and be disciplined enough.
Shift Your Mindset To Create Lasting Change
When Theresa started Kickstartology Coaching she quickly figured out that trying to convince herself to be more efficient was never going to create lasting change.
Here’s the thing: Shifting your mindset is the fastest way to create lasting change because it’s the fastest way to change your behaviour.
It’s not intuitive. When you feel like you’re already behind and in a rush, jumping into action can feel like the most efficient solution. But it isn’t.
Theresa had to examine and change a lot of her thinking about writing, her writing habits, and thoughts about herself in order to start looking for different solutions and start making different decisions.
The Alignment Framework kept her on track and made it easy to use the mindset tools effectively to bring together her big picture goals with her habits, and factor in the day-to-day stuff that comes up.
Mindset shifts feel awkward at first, and it’s normal to feel deep resistance, especially because intentional mindset shifts don’t just happen instantaneously. But they last.
Now Theresa writes consistently. Consistent doesn’t mean perfect (I know, some of you struggle with that one, it still frustrates Theresa) but it means that when things get off track she is committed to figuring it out. Her writing is moving forward at a pace that aligns with everything else in her life that can’t just be put on hold.
It’s only by allowing herself to slow down and commit to the mindset shift that Theresa was able to stop fighting with the clock and just make it happen.
