One-on-One vs. Group Coaching? What People Get Wrong:
“My situation is really unique, so I worry that I won’t benefit from the group, and I should get one-on-one coaching.”
I’ve heard that, and I understand where it comes from, but it isn’t accurate.
Many people have an assumption that one-on-one coaching is better than group coaching. They fear that in a group coaching program, they won’t get attention tailored to their exact circumstances so that it won’t be as fast or impactful.
But Your Circumstances Don’t Define You
You get to define who you are. Your problems and your obstacles will always be unique to you because you experience them in the specificity of the context of your life.
But you are never coached on the context of your life; you are coached on who you are today and who you want to become. The work is to learn how to apply the principles and tools to your current life and whatever comes next.
And there are serious advantages to group coaching that can’t be replicated in a one-on-one setting.
One-on-One vs. Group Coaching: The Power of More Brains
In group coaching, you have access to more brains. Often seeing other people be coached, even on something seemingly unrelated to your situation, helps you identify something in yourself faster. These pivotal insights can be missed when the focus is solely on you because you are too close to your own narrative.
Furthermore, seeing others get out of their comfort zones and take big steps is not only inspiring, but it reminds us of what’s possible. Watching others get unstuck and seeing how much of an impact our thoughts and decisions can have and how quickly we can make massive shifts makes it feel safer to do the same.
Fear of “Compare and Despair”
For those who worry about measuring up to others or getting caught up in comparisons, if this will distract you in the coaching program, this is likely impacting your decisions in life. In Kickstartology, the coaching process will help you work through those worries so that you stop getting in your own way.
The Kickstartology process, based on our Alignment Framework, is simple and effective. Through the twelve modules of the Kickstartology Program (which we go through twice with live lessons, live coaching, check-ins, and assigned thought work), you will be able to find the patterns that aren’t working for you. You’ll identify why you are caught in them and find new approaches to make shifts towards a life that thrills you.
Rehearsing and Setting the Stage
In group coaching, you get to practice showing up for yourself the way you want to show up for the rest of your life, and you have the bonus of support and inspiration from the other women. Imagine the courage you would have to take the next steps. Consider the power of feeling accountable to the group. Imagine how much easier it would be to stay connected to your goals and the impact you want to have if you always had access to a community that wants this for you.
P.P.P.S. Our client, Hanna, says it best:
“Kickstartology Coaching offers a mix of brain tools, challenge, community, encouragement, and consistency. The openness of the Kickstartology team and of my fellow program participants has helped me envision my future, create a blueprint for the way I want to show up in the world, and start building the habits I want in my life."
