Do you wish you could just get motivated on demand? Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. Fun fact: The human brain is structured in such a way that makes it much easier for us to plan than it is for us to execute on the plans. And it can be really frustrating to feel motivated when making plans and setting goals, only to not follow through.
Do you think of yourself as a reliable person? Think of this: every time you don’t follow through on something because you can’t find the motivation, you are being unreliable to yourself. Every time you don’t follow through you are building the habit of disappointing yourself and you become more comfortable with it. Many people get caught in the cycle of beating themselves up and telling themselves that they will try harder but never getting into consistent action. The might have short power bursts, but that isn’t going to have as much impact in the long run.
