2020 Summed Up
2020.
— God (@TheTweetOfGod) July 1, 2020
Six months down.
Three to go.
It cracks me up for many reasons, but while could be said of any year, it’s particularly relevant right now, no? Aside from the fact that 2020 feels like 10 years in one, 2020 was going to be my year!
It Started So Well
The start of a fresh decade! The end of a seven-year cycle of hard times! We hosted our Kickstart: 2020 event and I felt on top of the world. I’d never started a decade with self-coaching in my toolkit. I had a vision and the board to prove it! I had plans and dreams and goals! I was doing daily work to achieve those dreams of being on Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations by the time I’m 50.
Pivot and Confession
Then the WHO declared a global pandemic and the world shut down. I was completely thrown off-course. Suddenly I had to pivot to working from home, making sure my kids were doing something that resembled education, while I asked the 100th colleague to unmute themselves if they were trying to speak. I spent my days studying the virus mutation and my nights not sleeping. I got my grocery planning down to a science. I began to feel deep gratitude for the little things (coffee!) and the time with my quaranteens. But my big goals? I put them up on a shelf for a bit.
I didn’t fully admit this to myself, of course, but I was experiencing Global Pandemic Entitlement. It’s easy to say, “I’ll do that tomorrow” and let yourself off the hook when you have Covid-19 as the excuse. On top of that, many of us have been struggling with Uncertainty Fatigue, where the constant confusion about the ever-changing news makes us feel tired.
Reset: Take Two
But now we are 19 weeks in! NINETEEN! And I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard it likened to driving a race car, where races are won and lost in the corners. An inexperienced driver waits to get through the entire curve before accelerating, but an experienced driver knows to put their foot on the gas when they are about halfway through the curve and GO. I feel the pent up energy of waiting for this thing to be over and I’m done waiting. I want to put the pedal to the medal and head towards my dreams! I want to make the second half of this year count, but on my own terms, with my own comfort level. There is still a global pandemic after all, and while it’s still hard some days, I’m calibrating.
At the time of this writing, there are 160-ish days to December 31, 2020. So take a moment now to picture what you want. I believe deeply that we get to co-create the world we want to live in. Imagine the world you want to live in. Take a breath and accept that you have every right to spend time in a place of desire. What do you want? Do you want to know what life is like with six-pack abs? Or what it’s like to go to a job you’re actually excited about on Monday mornings? Is there a side hustle you’ve been wanting to build? What could you do if you didn’t hold back?
Beware of Resistance Patterns
As I said in a post about identifying and coaching through resistance, you likely already know what to do to lose the weight, or get the new job, or improve your relationship, or increase your customers. And if you don’t you can just do a simple online search and BOOM! I’ve been writing these kinds of helpful articles since 2001 so I know they exist. But it’s not having the information that’s holding you back. So what is it? We often hear the same themes from our clients:
“I don’t have enough time.”
“I’m the most disorganized person ever.”
“I’m not good enough.”
And very likely it’s your resistance to doing the consistent work that would make you better, faster, stronger, happier, healthier, more confident… Don’t let this get in the way of your reset.
Our online group coaching program is simple: we teach you how to consistently figure out what you need to do and how to actually do it. We help you rewrite the stories that keep you stuck and identify the hidden things that are holding you back. We help you identify your procrastination patterns and close the loopholes we all create to get around getting a job done. We’re not rocket scientists. We’re women who were diagnosed with ADHD later in life and learned how to reprogram their brains to start identifying the habits, decisions and thought patterns that self-sabotaged and start living to their full potential.
We’ve got a free motivation workshop coming up that offers a taste of what we’re about. We’re not the only ones offering these programs, but as far as we know, we’re the only coaching duo doing online group coaching for women. Like a Big Mac and fries, or Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, you’re probably going to like one of us. And frankly, we’d be happy if anyone signed up for coaching with any coach, that’s how strongly we believe in coaching. If you can’t attend the workshop, get in touch and we are happy to chat to determine if you qualify.
As community builders, something you don’t get in one-on-one coaching, we want the people who want us and will grow with our group coaching cohort, forming a network of like-minded badasses who are tired of settling.
P.S. Find out how to work with me if you're ready to break the patterns keeping you stuck and get out of your own way: Let's talk.
Book a free coaching exploration call and I will tell you everything you need to know and what results you can expect with my group coaching program for women or 1-on-1 coaching.
